HOW DRONES ARE USED IN PROFESSIONAL FILM PRODUCTION

It was illegal in the U.S. to use drones when shooting in a feature film, that is until 2014, when the law was changed. Still, to be able to usefully equipped professional cinematic drones for shooting video, companies might have to send detailed safety procedures,  make sure the people to fly the drones have private pilot certificates and agree to keep eyes at all times on the craft. 8 Great Drone Shots

  • The Unveiling Shot is a usually used to set the theme while introducing a  location. It has two parts, the start, where you only see the local limits and have no idea of the geographical context and the end, where you have the big picture completely revealed. The idea is that the local foreground works as an inverted curtain, that “unveils” the location in a smooth rise.
  • The Loo-up Shot  This is another way to introduce a geographical and emotional setting. It consists of having the drown move slowly at the same altitude while moving the camera from looking completely down to completely horizontal.  The movement of the camera can be influenced by keeping an object placed in a specific position of the frame as the drone moves.
  • Pull Back Shot Simple and Dramatic, all you have to do is to flight away from a setting.
  • Head Over Shot The head over shot is a slow spiraling rise with camara looking straight down at the center of a nice scenery. A second variation would be a smooth slow straight line movement instead of a rise, remember keep things as slow as possible.
  • The Cam Crane Shot Imitating the crane shot of the orignal crane.
  • Course Lock Shot these are flight modes that can be used to enable the drone to fly automatically around an object while you focus on the camara and the shot.
  • Slider Shot: Vertical shot that uses multiple backgrounds at different distances, enabling for great cinematic effect.
  • Tripod Shot: A slow rotation pivoting on itself.

Paddington 2: 2018

On January 10th 2018, the comedy written by Paul King and Simon Farnaby based on the Paddington Bear will be released in the United States. The comedy has received three nominations which include  Best British Film and Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Grant. Rotten Tomatoes has qualified Paddington 2 with an 8.6/ 10.

Downsizing is a 2017 American science fiction comedy-drama film directed by Alexander Payne and written by Payne and Jim Taylor. The film stars Matt Damon, Christoph Waltz, Hong Chau, Jason Sudeikis, and Kristen Wiig, and tells the story of a couple who undertake a procedure to shrink their bodies so they can start a new life in an experimental community. What’s wrong with fast food? A clever summary.

1. A sign advertising inclusion of highly processed meat and even sugar in a sandwich.

Many fast foods are rich in calories as they include considerable amounts of mayonnaise, cheese, salt, fried meat, and oil, thus containing high-fat content (Schlosser). Excessive consumption of fatty ingredients such as these results in an unbalanced diet. Proteins and vitamins are generally recommended for daily consumption rather than large quantities of carbohydrates or fat. Due to their fat content, fast foods are implicated in poor health and various serious health issues such as obesity and cardiovascular diseases. Additionally, there is strong empirical evidence showing that fast foods are also detrimental to appetite, respiratory system function, and central nervous system function (Schlosser).

2. McDonald’s has received criticism for serving food high in saturated fat and calories.

According to the Massachusetts Medical Society Committee on Nutrition, fast foods are commonly high in fat content, and studies have found associations between fast food intake and increased body mass index (BMI) and weight gain. In particular many fast foods are high in saturated fats which are widely held to be a risk factor in heart disease. In 2010, heart disease was the number 1 ranking cause of death. *(…)

Besides the risks posed by trans fats, high caloric intake, and low fiber intake, another cited health risk is food poisoning. In his book Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All-American Meal, Eric Schlosser argues that meatpacking factories concentrate livestock into feedlots and herd them through processing assembly lines operated by employees of various levels of expertise, some of which may be poorly trained, increasing the risk of large-scale food poisoning.

Manure on occasion gets mixed with meat, possibly contaminating it with salmonella and pathogenic E. coli. Usually spread through undercooked hamburgers, raw vegetables, and contaminated water, it is difficult to treat. Although supportive treatment can substantially aid inflicted individuals, since endotoxin is released from gram-negative bacteria such as E. coli upon death, antibiotic use to treat E. coli infections is not recommended.[14] About 4% of people infected with E. coli 0157:H7 develop hemolytic uremic syndrome, and about 5% of children who develop the syndrome die. The rate of developing HUS is 3 in 100,000 or 0.003%. E. coli 0157:H7 has become the leading cause of renal failure among American children.

These numbers include rates from all sources of poisoning, including lettuce; radish sprouts; alfalfa sprouts; unpasteurized apple juice/cider; cold cooked or undercooked meat; and unpasteurized animal milk. Additional environmental sources include fecal-contaminated lakes, nonchlorinated municipal water supply, petting farm animals and unhygienic person-to-person contact.[15] An average of sources leads to the number of 0.00000214% for undercooked beef.

4. Food-contact paper packaging

Fast food often comes in wrappers coated with polyfluoroalkyl phosphate esters (PAPs) to prevent grease from leaking through them. These compounds are able to migrate from the wrappers into the packaged food.[16] Upon ingestion, PAPs are subsequently biotransformed into perfluorinated carboxylic acids (PFCAs), compounds which have long attracted attention due to their detrimental health effects in rodents and their unusually long half-lives in humans. While epidemiological evidence has not demonstrated causal links between PFCAs and these health problems in humans, the compounds are consistently correlated with high levels of cholesterol and uric acid, and PAPs, as found on fast food packaging, may be a significant source of PFCA contamination in humans.

On average, nearly one-third of U.S. children aged 4 to 19 eat fast food on a daily basis. Contrary evidence has been documented that questions the correlation of a fast food diet and obesity. A 2014 People Magazine article recounts the experience of John Cisna, a science teacher at Colo-NESCO High School, who ate a fast food diet for 90 days. At the end of 90 days he had lost 37 pounds and his cholesterol level went from 249 to 170. Cisna kept to a strict 2,000 calorie limit a day and walked 45 minutes a day. Harley Pasternak, a celebrity trainer and nutrition expert, supports Cisna’s experiment by saying, “While I don’t think it’s a great idea to eat too much fast food…I do think he is right. Fast food, while far from healthy, doesn’t make people gain weight. Hugh Jackman leaves the x-men outfit to put on a show and …what a show! perhaps, in the words of the greatest showman “The Greatest Show on Earth?” Hugh had to research the life of “P. T. Barnum” whom he confidently calls “The Father of Pop Culture” to participate in the film about one of most amazing stories of a short era that flashed by.

The Greatest Showman is a 2017 American biographical musical drama film directed by Michael Gracey, written by Jenny Bicks and Bill Condon and starring Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Michelle Williams, Rebecca Ferguson, and Zendaya. Loving Vincent – An animated movie that turns the silver screen into a “van-Gogh”

We are only beginning to see the creative and artistic potential technology enables, in the same way Vincent Van Gogh used his paintbrush, that crude piece of technology that consisted in horse hairs and wood,  to create immortal masterpieces in culture, CGI and other technologies ( Like VR, 3D printing and computer modeling) will enable us to move to new and unimagined (yet) frontiers.

Ferdinand

Well, I guess if you have to see an animated children’s movie, this is the one to see in 2017. That’s the impression I get from this review anyway; there are nice and smart comedic scenes, but charming and gratifying. “Based on 1936 children’s book The Story of “Ferdinand”, this charming tale about a lover-not-a-fighter bull is surprisingly relevant for a vintage property“, says Joyce Slaton, from Common Sense Media. “Inoffensive fun, but unlike its paperback forbear, the cinematic Ferdinand is unlikely to stand the test of time. said James Dyer from Empire. In what’s been an underwhelming year for big-studio animation, it’s the best of the bunch: sincere, likable, surprisingly funny, and overall true to its source material.” Peter Debruge form Variety. While the portrayal of Spain is good in terms of landscape, the general character personalities are American, keeping audiences from a true cultural immersion.

Finally the most appropriate for young children in the release weekend for “The Last Jedi”, one of the most popular and acclaimed movies since the much-criticized episodes I, II and III.

I absolutely LOVE the holidays! Decorating my house, planning ahead for the celebration, listening to carols, watching all the malls light up their trees… it makes me feel so joyful! I really enjoy doing all the “chores” that come with Christmas celebration! Especially I truly enjoy choosing my new decorations. How Traditional is the Traditional Christmas Tree?

A Christmas Trees is a decorated tree, usually an evergreen conifer such as spruce, pine, or fir or an artificial tree of similar appearance, associated with the celebration of Christmas. The modern Christmas tree was developed in early modern Germany (where it is today called Weihnachtsbaum or Christbaum), in which devout Christians brought decorated trees into their homes. It acquired popularity beyond the Lutheran areas of Germany, during the second half of the 19th century, at first among the upper classes. The tree was traditionally decorated with roses made of colored paper, apples, wafers, tinsel, and sweetmeats, with the apples and round ornaments representing the fruit of knowledge of good and evil from the Book of Genesis in the Christian Bible. The Mistletoe!

It is a Christmas custom for a couple who meet under a mistletoe to kiss. Mistletoe is commonly used as a Christmas decoration, though such use was rarely alluded to until the 18th century. The tradition has spread throughout the English-speaking world but is largely unknown in the rest of Europe. It was described in 1820 by American author Washington Irving in his The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon, Gent.: The Mistletoe is still hung up in farm-houses and kitchens at Christmas, and the young men have the privilege of kissing the girls under it, plucking each time a berry from the bush. When the berries are all plucked the privilege ceases.

Some claim that the origin of the tradition of kissing under the mistletoe goes back to ancient Norse mythology. According to the myth, a goddess named Frigg had a son named Baldr. When he was born, she made all plants unable to hurt him. Yet she overlooked the mistletoe plant, and a god known for his mischief, Loki, tricked another god into killing Baldr with a spear made of mistletoe. The gods eventually brought Baldr back to life, and Frigg declared that mistletoe would bring love rather than death into the world. People then kissed under the mistletoe to obey the goddess, as well as to remember Baldr’s resurrection.

Another theory is that the tradition originated in the ancient Babylonian-Assyrian Empire. Single women apparently stood under mistletoe hung outside the temple for the goddess of beauty and love. They were expected to bond with the first man that approached them – but they did not kiss. Historically, mistletoe was seen as a supernatural, healing plant. It was believed to promote fertility, and its leaves were said to be an aphrodisiac. Mistletoe was once a part of marriage ceremonies for this reason, and was placed under couples’ beds for good luck. The tradition later was found in England, when young men would kiss women standing under the mistletoe, and would pluck a berry from the bush after each kiss. After all the berries were gone, it was bad luck to continue kissing under that bush. It is important to remember that during this period a kiss was taken very seriously – it was usually seen as a promise of marriage!

The Stockings

The stockings are the most humble of the gift-related items of Christmas and a very important indicator of how “Well” some children behaved. Stockings scream cozy loving Christmas to anyone who sees them. So here are a few choices.

The Christmas Lights

Christmas Lights (also known as fairy lights) are lights used for decoration in celebration of Christmas, often on display throughout the Christmas season including Advent and Christmastide. Was Jim’s Enlightenment Just Media Bait for New Netflix Over-The-Top Documentary?

So, was it all fake? Did Jim Carrey go on an attention seeking mediatic rampage to set the stage for new Netflix documentary about his over-the-top involvement in the making of the film about an over-the-top comedian? Try saying that 10 times fast.  “Man on the Moon” remember? This is the movie where Jim stars in the biopic about the 70’s comedic icon Andy Kaufman. The guy was so eerie you just could not stop staring, and in the 90’s, Jim played the part to the point of international praise.  Was Jim really getting all “high on the existential nihilism of modern quantum physics” or is this mediatic genius setting the stage for his brand new Netflix biopic about his great role in the Kaufman biopic? Why the Terrible Reviews of “Just Getting Started” Movie?

So this is probably one of the most bullied and criticized movie of 2017 I’ve seen so far. Why is everybody ganging up on “Just Getting Started”?

The video above is a 2/4… that’s the best review they get. I’m such a fan of the cast that it’s painful to see the reviews. But apparently, it’s not that funny.

“A two-hander action comedy in the vein of Midnight Run (1988), about an ex-F.B.I. Agent (Tommy Lee Jones) and an ex-mob lawyer in the Witness Protection Program (Morgan Freeman) having to put aside their petty rivalry on the golf course to fend off a mob hit.” – Source

A rather lazy boondoggle by Shelton, who waited 14 years to direct again and didn’t bother to make it worthwhile.

So there once was a movie that was sooo “so bad that it was good”, that it turned out to be the greatest worst movie ever made and thus, a cultural iconic cult film with an expanding following. Anyways, how’s your sex life? As I was telling you, the cult fandom grew so fast, it got noticed by Seth and the Franco boys and they turned the story into a Moviementary project. Now it looks like the documentary about the greatest worst movie ever made is setting itself up for prime Oscar recognition, as the top movie critiques are gifting amazing reviews about it!

This bizarre ode to badness is so peculiar and works so well I almost want to believe that the Franco Bros and Rogan created the character “Tommy Wiseau” in order to create the movie and then create the movie of the movie! Too much? it’s hard to escape the temptation of speculation on some conspiracy theory. But you be the judge. Let’s start with the trailer…

Murder on the Orient Express

20th Century Fox announced the project in December 2013. Michael Green wrote the screenplay for a new film adaptation of Murder on the Orient Express. On June 16, 2015, it was reported Fox was in talks with Kenneth Branagh to direct.

On November 20, 2015, it was announced that Branagh would direct the film and star in the role of detective Hercule Poirot. On June 10, 2016, it was reported that Angelina Jolie was in early talks to co-star in the film. Variety reported on August 4 that she would not sign on to star, while the studio was looking for other actresses like Charlize Theron. On August 17, Variety reported that Leslie Odom Jr. was in talks to join the cast in an unspecified role. On 6 September, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Tom Bateman had joined the cast as Bouc. On September 29, Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer, Daisy Ridley, Judi Dench, Michael Peña, Derek Jacobi, and Lucy Boynton were added to the cast. On October 20, Josh Gad was cast in the film to play Hector MacQueen. On 27 October, Marwan Kenzari joined the cast as the French conductor of the train. On November 11, Penélope Cruz joined the cast in an unspecified role, later revealed to be Pilar Estravados (a Hispanic version of the novel’s Swedish Greta Ohlsson, borrowing the name of a character in Hercule Poirot’s Christmas). Principal photography on the film began on November 22, 2016, in the United Kingdom and wrapped in May 2017. It used some of the same 65mm film cameras as Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk, which Branagh had acted in shortly before this production. These two were among the very few to be shot on 65mm film since Branagh’s Hamlet in 1996, and the only ones released in 2017.
Release
Murder on the Orient Express was released in the United Kingdom on November 3, 2017 and will be on November 10, 2017 in the United States, by 20th Century Fox. The first look at the film and cast was released on May 3 in an exclusive article by Entertainment Weekly.

In the United States and Canada, Murder on the Orient Express will be released alongside Daddy’s Home 2, and is projected to gross around $20 million from 3,350 theaters in its opening weekend.

Critical response
On review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the film has an approval rating of 65% based on 97 reviews, with an average rating of 6/10. The site’s critical consensus reads, “Stylish production and an all-star ensemble keep this Murder on the Orient Express from running off the rails, even if it never quite builds up to its classic predecessor’s illustrious head of steam.” On Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating to reviews, the film has a weighted average score of 52 out of 100, based on 33 critics, indicating “mixed or average reviews”.

Leah Greenblatt of Entertainment Weekly gave the film a B+ and called the film “a lushly old-fashioned adaptation wrapped in a veritable turducken of pearls, monocles, and international movie stars.” Blake Goble of Consequence of Sound said “Handsomely staged, exceptionally well-cast, and reasonably faithful, Branagh has revived Murder on the Orient Express in a highly pleasing fashion.” Trace Thurman of Bloody Disgusting gave the film three and a half skulls and said “For those looking for an involving murder mystery that is respectful of its source material and filled with an all-star cast, look no further than Murder on the Orient Express.” Matt Goldberg of Collider gave the film a B- calling it a “handsomely crafted production” albeit on that “falls apart is at the climax of the film.”

On the negative side, Matthew Jacobs of The Huffington Post was impressed by the cast but ultimately felt “Agatha Christie’s whodunit has no steam.” Peter Travers of Rolling Stone found that there were many dull moments and that the film was a needless remake. Richard Roeper of Chicago Sun-Times gave the film two and a half stars felt that the film focused too much on Poirot to the detriment of the other characters saying “never let it be said the director misses an opportunity to place his star front and center, unfortunately relegating just about everyone else in the obligatory International All-Star Cast to a paper-thin character with one or at most two defining personality traits.” Ignatiy Vishnevetsky of The A.V. Club complained that Branagh’s “erratic direction—more interested in cut glass and overhead shots than in suspicions and uncertainties—bungles both the perfect puzzle logic of the crime and its devious solution.”
Possible sequels
In 2015, James Prichard, Chairman of Agatha Christie Ltd. and Christie’s great grandson, expressed enthusiasm for sequels, citing the collaboration with Branagh and the production team. In May 2017, Branagh expressed interest in further instalments if the film is a success.

Luffy, a boy whose body gained the properties of rubber after unintentionally eating a Devil Fruit. The manga has been adapted into an original video animation (OVA) produced by Production I.G in 1998, and an anime series produced by Toei Animation, which began broadcasting in Japan in 1999. What is a Meme?

What is a Jump Scare Technique?

” A jump scare is a technique often used in horror films and video games, intended to scare the audience by surprising them with an abrupt change in image or event, usually co-occurring with a loud, frightening sound. The jump scare has been described as “one of the most basic building blocks of horror movies”. Jump scares can surprise the viewer by appearing at a point in the film where the soundtrack is quiet and the viewer is not expecting anything alarming to happen or can be the sudden payoff to a long period of suspense.

Some critics have described jump scares as a lazy way to frighten viewers, and believe that the horror genre has undergone a decline in recent years following an over-reliance on the trope, establishing it as a cliché of modern horror films.

In 2004, K-Fee (Kaffee), a caffeinated energy drink from Germany, launched a series of advertisements that featured a peaceful clip, such as a car cruising through a grassy hillside, or two lovers running toward each other on a beach. The clip is interrupted by a zombie or gargoyle popping up on the screen, along with a frightening scream, potentially scaring the viewer. Jigsaw Movie 2017

A criminal named Edgar Munsen manages to evade police and is pursued onto a rooftop, where he activates a triggering mechanism. He is shot and severely injured by police detective Halloran and his fellow officers.

Elsewhere, five people are held captive inside of a room in a run-down barn, each with a metal noose around their neck leading them to a wall of buzzsaws. A taped recording from John Kramer explains that to escape, they must give a sacrifice of blood and will eventually need to confess their past sins. The chain nooses begin to pull them towards the saw blades. Four manage to survive by offering blood via purposely cutting themselves on the saws, though one man who was still unconscious during the message and only woke up moments before the ending of the game appears to die. The next test reveals that one of the group-members, Carly, inadvertently caused the death of an asthmatic woman by stealing her purse, which had her emergency inhaler inside. A trio of syringes are revealed; one contains an antidote for a poison in her system, another a saline solution, and the third a potent acid. She must inject one into herself in order to save the rest from being hanged. Eventually, volatile group-member Ryan stabs all three into her to save himself, partially melting Carly’s face and killing her.

During the games, Halloran and his partner, Detective Hunt, begin to investigate the matter, especially with the discovery of bodies that appear to belong to the unnamed man and Carly, who were both killed in the barn. Halloran becomes suspicious of forensic pathologists Logan and Eleanor. Though in turn Logan, a military veteran and former doctor whose wife was killed two years prior, is suspicious of Halloran’s motives. Munsen is kidnapped from the hospital by an unseen assailant. When the police captain orders John Kramer’s grave be exhumed, Munsen’s body is found inside.

In another room, Ryan tries to cheat by escaping through a door marked “No Exit”, and his leg is trapped by razor-sharp wires, immobilizing him. Fellow group members Anna and Mitch discover an unlocked door leading into a grain silo, but are quickly trapped inside. A taped message explains that Anna and Mitch will be buried in grain and then killed by falling debris unless Ryan pulls a lever that will free him from the wires around his leg. Ryan eventually agrees, but upon pulling the lever, his leg is instantly severed, though Anna and Mitch survive. Mitch is tested next. A taped message reveals that he sold a motorcycle with a faulty brake to a young man revealed to be John Kramer’s innocent nephew, which resulted in his death in an automobile accident. Mitch will be lowered into a spiral-shaped blade, unless he can reach for a brake lever. However, he is unable to complete the task and is subsequently killed, with his body being shredded.

Logan and Eleanor speak in a bar about their distrust of Halloran, before Eleanor takes Logan to her “studio”, revealing that she is an obsessive fangirl of the “Jigsaw Killer” case, and has built replicas of many of his previous traps, which she worries could incriminate her. Detective Hunt has followed them and informs Halloran of the studio. Halloran orders the two be arrested, though Logan is able to convince Hunt, an old friend, that Halloran is actually to blame, given his past dealings with Edgar Munsen. Logan and Eleanor depart for the barn after Eleanor is able to deduce the location of the game. Halloran manages to pursue them.

Anna tries to cheat and slips through a doorway to freedom, only to be captured. She awakens with a gravely wounded Ryan, each chained up in a room with a hooded figure. The hooded figure removes his robe to reveal John Kramer. John reveals that Anna, an old neighbor of his, suffocated her infant child in a fit of rage, and threw the blame on her husband by planting the body next to him while he slept. Her husband later committed suicide in a fit of grief, thinking he accidentally smothered his own baby. John explains that the two have not yet earned their survival, and have gotten his message “backwards.” He places a loaded gun between them, telling them it is the “key” to their survival. Anna misinterprets John’s message and attempts to shoot Ryan, only for the gun, which is revealed to be rigged, to backfire and kill her. Ryan begins to cry upon realizing that keys to their chains were hidden inside of the gun, and destroyed when Anna pulled the trigger.

While Logan and Eleanor investigate the barn, they are ambushed by Halloran. Eleanor escapes, and while pursuing her Halloran is drugged and knocked-out by an unseen assailant. Logan and Halloran both awaken inside of collars rigged with laser cutters. The two are told that they must confess all of their sins or else they will die, and they will have the choice of who will face their test first. Halloran forces Logan to go first. Logan confesses that he made a mistake and mislabeled John Kramundiagnosed which caused his cancer to go un-diagnosed until it was too late. Despite confessing, Logan appears to die. Halloran confesses at the last second, admitting that he has allowed criminals and murderers to walk free for personal gain.

Suddenly, Logan’s body stands up, stating that he faked his death in order to get Halloran to confess, and revealing that the barn game takes place ten years in the past. He was the unnamed man who appeared to die in the first game of the barn trap, but because he was unconscious when the first message was delivered, John Kramer saved him, feeling Logan should not die out of error. John subsequently took Logan on as his apprentice. The bodies that were found were actually the bodies of criminals that Halloran allowed to walk free, and they were placed into the same tests that Logan was meant to face ten years prior. Logan also reveals that Munsen, one of the criminals Halloran let go, was responsible for murdering his wife. However, because Halloran refused to confess all of his sins, and because he selfishly broke the rules and forced Logan to go first, he will die, and be framed as the new Jigsaw killer. Logan tells Halloran that he “speaks for the dead”, and reactivates the laser-collar around his neck. Logan slams the door as Halloran’s head is sliced apart, killing him.

Victoria & Abdul is a 2017 biographical comedy-drama film directed by Stephen Frears and written by Lee Hall. The film is based on the book of same name by Shrabani Basu, about the real-life relationship between Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom and her Indian Muslim servant Abdul Karim. An unofficial sequel to the 1997 film Mrs Brown, it stars Judi DenchAli FazalMichael GambonEddie IzzardTim Pigott-Smith and Adeel Akhtar. Geostorm

Like everything else that is powerful and made by humans, we once again dive into a fable of the good scientific people inventing a way to do something, in this case control global weather with surgical precision, to later be hijacked by some power-hungry moron who does not have enough mind power to wonder why the smarter sciencey men choose not to fuck with the weather. With recognizable actors and the traditional cinematic epic film score, this is yet another form of psychological palliative that at best might make us a bit more conscientious of our fragility as a planet but really might probably do more harm than its pro-green message.
