Why the Terrible Reviews of “Just Getting Started” Movie?

So this is probably one of the most bullied and criticized movie of 2017 I’ve seen so far. Why is everybody ganging up on “Just Getting Started”?

The video above is a 2/4… that’s the best review they get. I’m such a fan of the cast that it’s painful to see the reviews. But apparently, it’s not that funny.

“A two-hander action comedy in the vein of Midnight Run (1988), about an ex-F.B.I. Agent (Tommy Lee Jones) and an ex-mob lawyer in the Witness Protection Program (Morgan Freeman) having to put aside their petty rivalry on the golf course to fend off a mob hit.” – Source

A rather lazy boondoggle by Shelton, who waited 14 years to direct again and didn’t bother to make it worthwhile.

“Some bad movies trigger swells of anger and outrage, while others prompt industrial-grade snark and scorn. And then there are leaden clunkers like “Just Getting Started” that provoke an ineffable sense of sadness as one considers how much time, money and talent has been squandered on something so thoroughly useless. Unduly protracted, clumsily contrived and dreadfully unamusing, this misbegotten project brings out the worst in all parties involved; even top-billed Morgan FreemanTommy Lee Jones and Rene Russo do little more than embarrass themselves here. It’s altogether apt that the film’s pro-forma theatrical exposure is a pre-Christmas dump (without, unsurprisingly, pre-release screenings for critics).” – Source
